Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Shloka 38

श्लोक 38:

धूमेनाव्रियते वह्निर्यथादर्शो मलेन च।
यथोल्बेनावृतो गर्भस्तथा तेनेदमावृतम्॥38

Transliteration:
dhūmenāvriyate vahnir yathādarśho malena cha
yatholbenaāvṛito garbhas tathā tenedam āvṛitam

Translation:
As fire is covered by smoke, as a mirror is obscured by dust, and as an embryo is enveloped by the womb, so is knowledge covered by desire.

In this shloka, Krishna uses three analogies to illustrate how desire (kāma) can cloud wisdom and knowledge. Just as smoke covers fire, dust covers a mirror, and a womb covers an embryo, desire obscures true understanding and awareness.
