श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता – अध्याय 2, श्लोक 17
(Sankhya Yoga – आत्मा का ज्ञान)
श्लोक (Sanskrit):
अविनाशि तु तद्विद्धि येन सर्वमिदं ततम्।
विनाशमव्ययस्यास्य न कश्चित्कर्तुमर्हति॥2.17॥
Transliteration:
avināśi tu tad viddhi yena sarvam idaṁ tatam।
vināśam avyayasyāsya na kaścit kartum arhati॥2.17॥
Hindi Translation (अनुवाद):
जिससे यह सम्पूर्ण जगत व्याप्त है, उसको अविनाशी जानो। उस अविनाशी, अव्यय (नाशरहित) तत्व का विनाश कोई भी नहीं कर सकता।
English Translation:
Know that to be indestructible by which all this is pervaded. No one can destroy that imperishable (soul).
Explanation in English:
In this verse, Lord Krishna further explains the eternal nature of the soul (Ātman).
• The soul pervades all living beings, just as space pervades everything.
• It is indestructible (avināśi), unchanging (avyaya), and beyond time or decay.
• Weapons, fire, water, or wind cannot destroy it (explained in later verses).
The soul is the divine consciousness present in every being — it is never born and never dies. Therefore, death applies only to the body, not to the soul. The one who understands this truth becomes free from fear and sorrow.
व्याख्या हिन्दी में:
इस श्लोक में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण आत्मा की अविनाशी और नित्य प्रकृति का वर्णन करते हैं —
• जिससे यह सारा संसार व्याप्त है — वही आत्मा है।
• आत्मा नित्य (सदा रहने वाली), अविनाशी (नष्ट न होने वाली) और अव्यय (क्षय न होने वाली) है। • कोई भी शक्ति आत्मा का विनाश नहीं कर सकती।
शरीर का नाश होता है, परंतु आत्मा सदा विद्यमान रहती है। जो इस सत्य को जान लेता है, वह मृत्यु के भय से मुक्त हो जाता है।
✨ भावार्थ (Essence):
• आत्मा शाश्वत है, न कभी जन्म लेती है, न मरती है।
• यह सर्वव्यापक चेतना है जो प्रत्येक प्राणी में विद्यमान है।
• जो आत्मा को जान लेता है, वह अमरत्व का अनुभव करता है।

गीता में उपदेश सुनाया, धर्म युद्ध को धर्म बताया। कर्म तू कर मत रख फल की इच्छा, यह सन्देश तुम्ही से पाया।
